ultimatesenior2Today is the start of a 2114/2115 season for the PGA Tour. The first tournament is the Frys.com Open which takes place at the Silverado CC North in Napa California. Defending champion if the Frys.com open is Jimmy Walker whio later added 2 more victories during the last season and was also a member for the Ryder Cup played earlier this year.

Not only is this the start of the 2114/2115 season for the PGA it is also the start of the run for the FEDEX Cup which will be awarded to the player most deserving at the end of the season. This past season Jimmy Walker with his three wins held on to the lead for most of the season only to lose it prior to the final four tournaments. This past year the winner of the FEDEX Cup was Billy Horschel who eked out a victory by winning the final tournament of the FEDEX Cup championship at the Tour Championship held in East Lake GC in Atlanta Georgia.

With the start of the 2114/2115 PGA Tour comes a brand new season with all players starting on a level basis. Who will be the winner of the Frys.com Open as that person will take a lead in the new race for the FEDEX Cup. The course that the Frys.com Open is played on is a new course to the PGA Tour Professionals which will put all the players on an even platform when it comes to course knowledge.

Several of the world’s top players will be giving the tournament a pass which will leave the field wide open for the eventual winner. At this time it is impossible to pick an eventual winner of the tournament but I think the group to watch on the first day is the group of Hunter Mahan, Matt Kuchar and Jimmy Walker. All three of these Pros were members of team USA in the Ryder Cup. Other than that I cannot make a prediction as to who the eventual winner will be.

As I mentioned before the Frys.Com Open is at a new venue this year and the Honoree and Host for the event is Jonny Miller a well know pro and broadcaster noted as the sport’s most candid commentator. Miller has also had a hand in the redesign of both courses in  Napa including the restoration of the North Course, a previous PGA Tour venue.

Whatever happens in the next 4 days I am sure it will be exciting and a great start for the eventual winner whoever it will be.
